You might be asking yourself, “what the heck does Eudemonia mean?”
That’s a great question!
It is an ancient Greek word that refers to a state of human flourishing or living well, which is exactly what the first annual Eudemonia 3 day health summit was all about!. Not just how can we improve our health, but how can we flourish and truly live life to its full capacity?
Instead of blasting you with ALL the knowledge bombs in one long blog post, (literally nobody is going to read all that), I am going to post small bits over the next few weeks. This way you can read, digest, and hopefully implement some of the strategies to enhance your life and well being 😊
I’ll start with a topic most people can relate to. To be honest, it is nothing revolutionary. However, it may calm your obsession over the next greatest bio hack on the market.
When it comes to improving your health, no one thing is the answer.
Sorry, but just cold plunging every day is not going to change your life.
The best thing for your health is to consistently implement multiple strategies that create positive change over an extended period of time. This is not just limited to food and fitness. However, those are two major factors of optimal health.
If this is a no brainer and you want specific protocols and exact instructions for how to implement strategies in your life in order to achieve peak performance or ideal body composition, this next piece may not sit well…
Recommendations that have been concluded from research are based on a very specific population of people or based on averages across a broad population. You likely do not fit the exact criteria of the people included in these studies. And you are likely not average. That’s a good thing! Who wants to be average? Therefore, what is best for YOU might not be what is said to be “optimal.”
This concept can be applied to almost everything. How often to exercise, what kind of exercise, what time of day to eat, what food you should and shouldn’t eat, what supplements to take, when you should go to sleep and wake up, how to cope with stress and fear.
So how do you know what is best for you?
N=1. You are your own experiment. The best way to find out what is ideal for you is to trial different approaches or techniques. Ideally, you should see and most importantly FEEL a positive change within a few months. Yes, I said months. Don’t be silly and expect results in days or even a few weeks. Some things can change quickly, but we are being realistic about a wide range of habits. The recommended parameters concluded from research are a great place to start, but there is variability in what is best for you.
Lastly, no one is healthy by themselves. Choose your community and choose it wisely. Surround yourself with people who you admire, who support you, and who positively impact your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. More on this topic later. That is all for now 😊
